Between October 29th and November 1st, the Botton-Champalimaud Centre in Lisbon hosted the Second International Conference on Pancreatic Cancer. The three-day event brought together around 400 experts to discuss the latest advancements in oncology, surgery, and basic and translational research.
The conference offered sessions focused on translational research and clinical trials, highlighting how scientific breakthroughs are transforming clinical strategies toward more personalised medicine in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, the essential collaboration between basic science and clinical practice was emphasised. The consensus was that a deep understanding of tumour biology is fundamental for developing more effective treatments and, ultimately, improving patient prognosis.
Numerous members of Alipanc (the Spanish Association for Pancreatic Cancer Research) were present and showcased the latest results from their laboratories. Among the researchers who presented their work were Mariano Barbacid, Direna Alonso-Curbelo, Núria Malats, Francisco Barriga y Silve Vicent, along with many other colleagues from the association.
